MY THOUGHTS

Gray After Dark was a stressful read! The isolation that these women endured, the eerie sense of incoming danger, and the intense brutal survival elements made this feel terrifying from the start.

What worked for me was the way that the story kept the pressure on without losing sight of the main character’s determination to survive. Knowing that this was inspired by a true story made the whole thing feel even more unsettling. This would have been a fun camping read to make it feel real.

Critically, the prose were basic and a bit popcorn. Almost made for the BookTok audience. So take that for what you will.

READ IT IF… 🔥

You like dark psychological thrillers, survival stories, isolated settings, and books that keep the tension high from beginning to end.
